Committees

Concurrent Sessions: United Nations Security Council

Chair: Chuck Roberts
Crisis Director: Ethan Wong

The idea behind the Concurrent Session committees is a fairly simple one: to simulate the work of two UN organs on the same topic. Instead of pitting two opposing committees against each as in a standard Joint Crisis Committee, the Concurrent Session will place the two simulated bodies on the same side. Nations on the two committees will have to coordinate policy and use the specific powers/expertise of the Security Council and IAEA to accomplish their goals.

The Security Council will be the crisis-heavy committee of the two, geared towards more experienced delegates who can make use of the Council’s powers and the resources of the IAEA through its Board of Governors. All of the procedural norms will be in place, but the topic/central crisis will be anything but “the usual.”
