Tito's Partisan Council, 1945
Chair: Will LeonardVice Chair: Ashley Lannquist
Crisis Director: Yoanna Pumplova
After years of resisting the brutal, repressive reign of the Nazis, the Yugoslav Partisan movement, under the leadership of Marshal Josip Broz Tito, has finally achieved victory over their fascist foes. Despite Tito’s victory over the Nazis and accession to power, the Southern Slav peoples – Serbs, Croats, Bosnians, Slovenes, Montenegrins included – still remain politically and socially fractured: internal nationalist divisions, racial hatreds, as well as the political, social, and economic devastation wrought by the Nazis threaten to exacerbate the ethnic tensions among the Southern Slav ethnic groups. Tito has already pledged to unify all the Southern Slav people under his control in a spirit of “Yugoslav brotherhood and unity.” Moreover, Tito has called his most trusted, elite Partisan military commanders to Belgrade to discuss issues of critical national importance.
