National Security Council of Pakistan
Chair: Mustafa HameedVice-Chair: Samuel Roth
Crisis Director: Taimur Malik
With the acceleration of the War on Terror, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan found itself at the focus of global politics and conflict. As the government cracked down on terrorism’s presence within the country, old struggles re-emerged as obstacles to the nation: the specter of corruption, the historical tensions with neighboring India, internal political intrigue, and the unrest of the citizenry. Now, in 2009, a new government is at the helm with familiar faces in the mix. How will delegates treat American pressure to rein in the ungovernable border with Afghanistan? How will they keep peace among the people and vanquish the corruption that has marred the government for years? This fast-paced simulation of Pakistan’s National Security Council will challenge delegates to reclaim stability in the country and balance the internal and external struggles that have defined the nation’s political landscape for the past decade.
Mustafa was born in Pakistan and attended school there for some time before moving to the United States. He remains an avid observer of the country's political soap operas and volatile cricket team.
