Tawantinsuyu: Incan Civil War and Spanish Conquest

With the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors in South America, Tawantinsuyu, otherwise known as the Incan Empire, faces several outside forces that threaten to tear apart their empire. The Conquistadors have just received permission from the queen of Spain granting Francisco Pizarro the power to conquer the Incan Empire. Before Pizarro returned to South America in 1532, the Incan Empire lost its Sapa Inca, or King, Huayna Capac, and the empire was now searching for a ruler. The two favorites for the crown are the sons of Huayna Capac: Huascar, who considers himself the rightful heir because of his bloodline, and Atahualpa, the illegitimate but more tactful son whose military prowess could be instrumental in securing an empire on the decline. In the absence of a clear ruler, the many conquests of the Incas seize their opportunity to dissent, which further weakens the Empire’s authority and highlights their need for a strong leader. After the arrival of the Spanish, the Incan Empire could be getting the final nail in the coffin. The Conquistadors spread unknown diseases and eliminate large amounts of Incan citizens.  It is the goal of the committee to elect a new leader and address dissension and Spanish aggression before the empire collapses.
