Secretariat Bios
  • Sarah is a rising senior in Columbia College studying Political Science and East Asian Languages and Cultures. Born and raised in France before moving to Korea, she spends more time working for CMUNNY than is good for her sanity or GPA, but has thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the conference since freshman year. When not harassing her Secretariat members online or on the phone, she is exploring the city to find tasty (i.e. French) baked goods, wondering which of her three coffee machines to use, and eating her bank account away in the many fine restaurants New York has to offer. She is thrilled to serve as Secretary-General this year, and hopes CMUNNY VII will be an enjoyable experience for all!
    Sarah Lee, Secretary-General
  • A native of Edison, NJ by way of a street-cred-building kindergarten stint in the Bronx, Kevin is a rising junior in Columbia College, pursuing a joint major of Economics-Political Science. He is excited to be working with head delegates from across the country, and wants to focus particularly on securing great lodgings and delivering a polished and professional all-around experience. When not losing money trading options or fooling around with fonts, Kevin enjoys The Economist as well as delectable selections of artisan cheeses and Italian meats. Best of luck to each and every delegate--let’s make this conference the best yet.

    Kevin Zhang, Director-General
  • Fo is a rising senior in Columbia College majoring in East Asian Languages and Cultures with a minor in Confusing First Names. She was born and raised in Singapore, and is consequently very bad with humidity or high temperature ranges. When not wrangling with the Japanese language, she writes, sleeps, and bemoans her lack of a kitchen/bar. Having previously staffed a CMUNNY Secretariat, Fo is happy to return to the board for CMUNNY VII in hopes of making it a better conference than ever before.
Chia Po "Fo" Linn, Chief of Staff
  • Rohit Prasanna is a rising junior at Columbia Engineering, majoring in Materials Science and Engineering. He also takes way too many classes in his favorite subject, Chemistry, for him to have a manageable workload. Born and raised in Bangalore, India, Rohit became a Model United Nations enthusiast in high school, when the first conference he attended turned out to be one of the most stimulating extracurricular experiences he had had.  As Undersecretary-General for Committees, Rohit cannot wait to help make CMUNNY VII the best, most engaging and most fun CMUNNY yet.  He wishes you all the best, and cannot wait to see you in October.
    Rohit Prasanna, USG - Committees
  • Henry Willson is a rising junior in Columbia College, studying philosophy. He was born in Manhattan, before enjoying a period of prolonged exile in the provinces of upstate New York. Veterans of CMUNNYs past may recall him as a twelfth-century pope or an ill-fated Dalai Lama. When not considering such pressing questions as How do we know we’re not brains in vats?, or working to help CMUNNY achieve new heights of acuity and efficiency (i.e. answering emails, many, many emails), he is a senior staff writer and deputy photo editor with the Columbia Daily Spectator. In his free time, he enjoys photography, unassigned reading, and leaving Morningside Heights much less than he should. He is inordinately pleased to welcome delegates to what will no doubt be an excellent CMUNNY VII.
    Henry Willson, USG - Committees
  • Michael Ying is a freshman in Columbia College studying Economics and Political Science. Michael was born in Manhattan, but grew up on the road, living everywhere from Tokyo to New Jersey. During school he is master of sleepless nights and coffee addictions. It is not uncommon to see him staring blankly at a Gchat screen at 3 a.m. When not answering emails about CMUNNY he enjoys Starcraft and long walks on the beach. Michael is excited to join such an amazing team and hopefully improve on this awesome conference.
    Michael Ying, USG - Committees
  • Hahn Chang is a rising sophomore at Columbia College studying Urban Studies. Hahn was born in Maple Grove, Minnesota where he grew up ice fishing for food and riding his snow mobile to school. Hahn moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to take a gap year serving with City Year, an Americorps program where he worked in an underserved middle school; however, he was confused by the lack of snow from September to May in Southern California, and quickly decided to move to a city with snow. When he is not off chasing caribou and deer, Hahn enjoys cooking, learning new languages, or watching the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, or Minnesota Wild in action. Hahn is excited to work to build the best CMUNNY yet and hopes that all the delegates have an amazing experience with CMUNNY!
Hahn Chang, USG - Public Relations
  • Rukmini is a rising junior at Columbia College, where she is double majoring in Political Science and Economics. Born in Mumbai, Rukmini grew up in London, Tokyo, and New York, and is now extremely excited to be here for CMUNNY VII! Having staffed the conference last year, this will be her first time on the Secretariat, where she serves as USG Public Relations. She is also an associate copy editor for the Columbia Daily Spectator and fears that the combination will be lethal. In her free time she enjoys drinking unreasonable amounts of coffee, eating at the finest dining establishments at Morningside Heights–Manhattan’s coolest neighborhood–and reading. Rukmini is excited to begin planning the best events and finding the best speakers for what will be the best CMUNNY yet!
Rukmini Mahurkar, USG - Public Relations
  • Farsai is a rising junior at Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, where she is majoring in Operations Research and minoring in Economics. Born and raised in Thailand, Farsai spends the majority of her time trying to teach people how to correctly pronounce her real name (Pravitra Chaikulngamdee—if you want to learn how to pronounce it, you’ll have to ask her yourself at CMUNNY!). When not dying under problem sets, Farsai may be found discovering authentic restaurants, taking walks around the parks at NYC, and doing her best to ensure that CMUNNY runs as smoothly as possible, and hopes that all delegates participating will have the best weekend in New York!
Pravitra "Farsai" Chaikulngamdee, USG - Conference Operations
  • Maitreyi is a rising junior in Barnard College still contemplating between majoring in Neuroscience and Behaviour, or Psychology—the reasonably more sane choice. She was born and raised in Mumbai, India until college where she now understands what it’s like to become a human popsicle. When she’s not hiding in her room from snow or trying to find new ways to understand chemistry, she puts on plays with the fantastic King’s Crown Shakespeare Troupe and shops her heart out until she realizes that she, herself barely fits in her dorm room. Maitreyi cannot wait for CMUNNY VII, which she’s absolutely positive, is going to be brilliant!
    Maitreyi Choksi, USG - Publications
  • Raised on the harsh streets of suburban New Jersey, Jon is a rising Junior at Columbia College pursuing a major in Computer Science with a side interest in Economics. If he's not busy hacking away on some project, you'll find him enjoying a good book, or thinking about the world. As Chief Web Developer, Jon hopes that you find the website to be every bit as polished and professional as CMUNNY VII is sure to be. A bit of an obsessive compulsive, he has your back if there's any information missing or if the site takes just a little too long to load.
    Jon Jia, Chief Web Developer
  • Tim is a rising junior in Columbia College majoring in Political Science-Economics and minoring in Philosophy. Born and raised in China, he is very happy to be the final addition to this Asian-dominated secretariat. When not pondering over why everything exists but unicorns don’t exist, he leads the CIRCA academics team which hosts world-class speakers such as George Stephanopoulos on Columbia’s campus, enjoys exploring New York City, and often plays soccer near the Hudson River. Tim is excited to facilitate the money spending--and earning--process of CMUNNY VII!
    Tim Chen, USG - Finance
